Key West, Snorkelers Paradise

It would be hard to find a true beach love who, even if they haven’t been there is in love with the Florida Keys. This long curving strand of small islands, starting at Key Largo and ending 90 miles from Cube at Key West has a well deserved reputation as a tropical paradise. Of all of the adventures to be had in the Keys one of the most fun is Key West, Snorkelers Paradise. The Keys are made from ancient coral reefs and thus have lots of craggy rock ledges and ample places for exotic tropical fish to hide and breed. The abundance of beautiful marine life to see is just the beginning. With around 500 years of history one reason to snorkel the Keys is to set your inner Mel Fisher free and weather you find a billion dollar Spanish treasure or just an old railroad spike of Mr. Flagglers, the thrill of the hunt will be there.

Key West snorkelers paradise means there are few bad places to snorkel in the Keys but some of the more popular are, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park. The tour boats will take you out to explore some of the very best coral Reefs in Florida. Another option here is to just swim right out off of Cannon Beach. The remains of an old Spanish ship make for some great snorkeling fun.

Another fine location is Sombrero Beach on Marathon`Key. The living reefs right off shore hold a wide range of beautiful marine life. Sombrero Beach also has the advantage of some very nice amenities. Showers, grills and changing rooms all on a sweet white sand beach make this one of our favorites.

If you make it all the way to the end of A-1-A the snorkeling at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is great and you are in Key West, so win win.
